Sisterhood of the traveling books: The Kite Runner

I opened my mailbox last night to find Khaled Hosseini's novel waiting for me. It came all the way from Geneva, Switzerland. Thanks Marcy.

I was so tempted to open the cover but I am going to wait until I finish the books I started. I cannot wait to read this book

Today is my parents 44th wedding anniversary. They dated a while before getting married so they have known each other a loooong time. Why then do they always act like they are surprised by each other's quirks? They are too funny.

Congrats to your parents! 44 years...that's quite an accomplishment in today's world.

I have heard that Kite Runner is a good book. I just read an excellent book called "Middlesex." It's a few years old now, as I'm behind on my reading.

And yes, I'm back from Italia and would love to tell you about my trip, but don't know how to email you! :-)

Auguri!!! 44 years? That's a good number!

Funny, right now I just got back from having breakfast with my parents, it's my father's 56th birthday, they also dated since they were 20, but they don't act so surprised with each other's quirks, hehe....

Is the book good? I just finished my books and am about to start a new one, someone reeeeeally recommended "Interpreter of Maladies", if your book is good, let us know :)

Ciao e a presto :)

Happy Anniversary to your parents! P's parents are together somewhere in that neighborhood, bless their hearts. Truly amazing :)

I think I might be on the waiting list for that book (no pressure as I'm working on 2 from the Swap myself!) or I might not be--can't remember; in any event, I look forward to hearing what you think.

rose in cali - thanks. You must have shelley's email right (didn't you stay at her place)? You can ask her or Sara (ms adventures) for my (Arlene's) email.

Look forward to hearing about your trip.

roam 2 rome - grazie. I have heard great things about the Kite Runner. I will let you know. I hope to get to it soon.

gibber - I know. It's kinda funny in small doses.

sognatrice - grazie. In an era of "starter marriages" it's rare to see anyome married for longer than a couple years.

I have this awed admiration for couples like your parents who make it through to those kinds of numbers. Maybe my perspective is really skewed, but I get the feeling that commitments these days are totally lacking the "until death do us part" element, no matter what words the couples mouth.
