Why couldn't TomKat have a nice small wedding?

You know since their love for one another is so real, they don't need all this publicity.

Re: Oprah. Girlfriend, don't be upset. I wasn't invited to the wedding either. :)

What happened to Katie? I worked with her a couple years ago and have a friend who was friends with her (post Tom she changed all her numbers, agents, managers etc.) Her devout Catholic parents are not thrilled she's marrying a twice divorced older man who seems devoid of any human emotions. I don't like how he pressured her to workout twice a day so she wouldn't be "fat" on her wedding day.

Hold up,  I just had a baby and you're telling me to lose weight faster? As Whitney Houston would say, "Hell to the no!"

The weird thing is Tom Terrific never seemed old to me until he started "dating" Katie. Being with her is not helping him gain a younger fan base, if anything, it's turning them off. (I'm sure everyone has heard the rumor about him auditioning his next girlfriend. Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Scarlett Johannson all passed).

I'm used to men in their late 30s/early 40s (esp. out here) only wanting to date women in their early to mid 20s. My expiration date has come and gone. I guess I could date a much younger guy but most of the 20 something men I meet are straight up knuckleheads. I mean, what are we going to talk about? Again this could be because of what I do/live but I don't want to talk about Playstation and comic book movies all the time.

We were on the same wavelength today!

Not to mention, Tom Terrific has gained a little weight himself. So, next to Katie, he looks old and pudgy.

I can't wait until 5 years from now when they break up "but remain close friends."

This entire thing is beyond ridiculous. I'm trying to be nice about it, and think of how over the moon Katie must be, since she did say that when she was younger she dreamed of marrying Tom Cruise. But I just keep thinking of all the strange things he's done (Katie had to lose weight, etc) and I can't help but feel that she's been brainwashed.

Oh well, at least we get to see lots of pictures of Italy in the news this week!

Oh, and what's the deal with the vows saying he'll buy her a cat, but he doesn't have to be faithful?!?!

scientologists...apparently the vows were written by l. ron hubbard himself. i just remember those creepy dianetics commercials when i was a kid. who knew it was this whole creepy religion (apologies to any scientology readers out there...it just seems creepy to me!)

LOL. yes Shelley we were. It's all over the news here.

Kali - I didn't hear about him buying her a cat. ha!

The cat thing is part of the "standard" Scientology vows:

"The bridegroom might hear the Scientology minister proffer this advice, part of what the church refers to as the traditional ceremony: 'Now, Tom, girls need clothes and food and tender happiness and frills, a pan, a comb, perhaps a cat. All caprice if you will, but still they need them.'
And Ms. Holmes could be told: 'Hear well, sweet Katie, for promise binds. Young men are free and may forget. Remind him then that you may have necessities and follies, too.'

"But there are also fundamental distinctions that set the rites apart. For example, in the traditional Scientology ceremony, when the bridegroom promises to 'keep her, well or ill,' he is also asked, 'And when she’s older, do you then keep her still?' "

(No, I'm not a Scientologist, I just read a few articles about it this week. I must admit I am strangely fascinated by TomKat).

Creepy is right!

I know a belief system is not right for me when the guy who founded it has been quoted as saying:

"I'd like to start a religion. That's where the money is."

i would like to comment but all i can say is ugh, ugh, ugh.

what do you mean oprah wasn't invited?!

I think the reason Oprah wasn't invited is because after the couch-jumping incident, she said she didn't believe he really meant it, that he was faking his feelings.

She was gracious enough to send them a gift anyway!

LOL.. I heard more about those vows on the news this morning. You can tell they were written in the 1950s.

Re: Scientology, I have been approached by several writers and out of work actors to join ("think of your career Ragazza it's great for networking"). I had to spend two days at the Celebrity Center for work and the place made me very uncomfortable.

Sorry, I'm with Jess. I'm not joining a religion founded by a unsuccessful sci-fi writer. Yes I know most organized religions have a bunch of money but you don't have to donate money to be a member. Also any "religion" that has a Celebrity Center and recruits celebs is suspect.

I wonder why Brooke went to the wedding? I know Tom Terrific apologized but they are not friends.

Call me old fashion, I think weddings should be about friends and families, not a PR event.

Free Katie!
