My New Blog

Ciao Bloggisti,

After almost seven years (I can't believe it), I've started a new blog. I can be found at Arlene Gibbs D├ęcor.

A lot has changed since November 2005. Without this blog I wouldn't have met some of the incredible people in my life or moved to Italy.

Grazie mille to everyone who took the time to read nyc/caribbean ragazza!

Miss Ragazza,

Best of luck on your new endeavors. I started reading your blog in 2007 when I was in transition: I was leaving my big pharma to look for something that better fit my personality. Five years later, I'm happily self employed and for the first time in a long time I like myself and I like how I feel. I'm broke but I'm good.

I could never fully articulate the discontent I felt until I began reading your posts. I wasn't living. I haven't been able to travel like I want to, but every day I'm moving itch by itch towards my goals.

Thank you and I look toward to reading your new blog.

Ciao,
M

Thank you, M for the very kind words.

I'm still trying to figure everything out myself (and still broke), but like you, very happy.

I wish you much success in reaching your goals.

Wow!!! I remember reading years ago when you had just first moved to Italy & were going thru the whole 'driver's license' thing (lol!!!). I am truly glad to see how far you have come - such an inspiration that shows if you put your mind to it & follow your heart & dreams, anything can come true. You are quite multi-talented to say the least!! Good luck with your new blog - I'll be stopping by :-)

Thank you, Tracey!

I still have nightmares about getting my Italian driver's license.

I love your blog. I will be in Italy for December till February, would love to meet you and pick your brain on life in Italy and possible a career potential.
How you just changed everything, I am uncertain I can do the same but it's worth knowing.
I have been once before for a month, hoping to stay in Milan / Turin for a good month.

Naphtali - Good luck with your move.

I have a French passport which is how I'm able to stay and work in Italy.

Are you a dual citizen (EU or Italian)? If not, you must get a work or student visa to stay longer than 3 months. You seem too young to get the "retirement" visa!

It's good that you're spending big chunks of time before making the leap. Too many people come on vacation fall in love with the country or a person, make the move without knowing much about Italy and then are miserable.

Biggest tips, save as much money as you can before you move. This will take some of the pressure off when you're looking for a job and start learning the language before you come.

Regarding how I did it, it's all on my this blog, under the tags "Countdown to Rome" "EU Citizenship" "me, myself and I" etc.
