Someone please help me. I cannot stop eating prosciutto.

Before I moved to Italy, I ate prosciutto once in a while. Lately, I can't get enough of it's salty goodness.

It's strange because my overall meat consumption has declined since the move. I rarely eat read meat (no more In-n-Out Burgers or burgers from AMMO) and chicken is a once in a blue moon thing. However, like my San Carlo chips issue earlier (which I finally got over) I'm now obsessed with prosciutto.

What foods are you "obsessed" with?

Sardines and canned mackerel.
I have no idea why.

I am still not a huge fan of prosciutto...probably more of a snob than anything...when it's really fresh, really lean (no big fat hanging onto it), it's divine. But that's a rare occurance.

PS: I am completely and totally addicted to artichoke hearts. I didn't even eat them in the States.

Nutella, Crostata, La Tur Cheese and what ever kind of risotto.

Prosciutto is a highly addictive drug! I'm obsessed with it too. Oh, and Parmigiano. And risotto. And shrimp. And...

lilacspecs - at least they are healthy. I like sardines with good bread for breakfast.

sara - it has to be the good stuff...I agree. There is nothing like it. I have yet to cook with artichokes here. I need to get it together, they're everywhere at the markets.

C.T. - nutella...sigh

lola - I'd love to have some risotto for dinner. Maybe I will make some later this week. It's soooooo good.

Love ,love prosciutto, esp in the summer when I can't be bothered to cook. I'm on a chicken kick these days. I love roast chicken, chicken curry, chicken satay, chicken tikka, chicken with garlic. You name it, I'll eat it!

Pollo a la Brasa - its a chicken cooked over a fire spit. A Peruvian thing that I picked up living in DC.

Chicken fingers - southern thing that I must have everytime I'm home visiting the parents and finally.... SWEET TEA.

I can make that at home.

I go in stages with food obsessions. Coincidentally, I've been on a prosciutto cotto kick lately (many, many panini consumed), but it's about to turn to fresh ricotta as it's been at the small market the past few times. LOVE it! I'll have it every day for about two weeks then probably not eat it for a year or so, having moved on to a different obsession. I went on a Nutella binge for a couple weeks around World Nutella Day...who knows what it'll be next? ;)

Petit Ecolier cookies -- you know, dark chocolate tablet on the top of a butter biscuit. I swear in three days I can go through two packages. !!!! ACK! I like the Monoprix store brand even better, but my Monoprix is currently out, so I'm back to buying the "real" thing.

Sweet Green peas. I blame Giada. The woman cooks with them all the time! I like them in salads. I like them as a side dish. i like them mashed with her tagliatelli with turkey sausage and smashed peas. The boy puts them in his dirty rice. I think i'm going to grow some in my garden (how i'm going to maintain a garden, who knows). Love the sweet green pea!

Oh, that and sour cream and onion pringles :)

I've never hat prosciutto before but the Trader Joe's carrot cake cupcakes and Thai food are in heavy rotation here. Totally obsessed with both.

I loooove proscuitto. A friend of mine calls it an obsession. I can eat it all day, everyday. Sorry, I can only enable you. lol

I go in phases too - just finished a big prosciutto phase, now am off on goat cheese. It was feta. Clearly, it's all about salt LOL.

Cotoletta alla milanese. Why? Dunno, but I must have someone to stop me when I eat them...

Congratulation on your first year here!

milanese - I could go for some curry chicken. yum

skywalker - that peruvian dish sounds amazing.

lucia - all sounds good. I shouldn't have the comments before lunch.

michelle - I go in stages too. I feel gelato is going to come roaring back now that the weather is getting warmer.

kimb - cookies + chocolate = heaven.

gibber - you are on a Giada kick lately. I wish I could see her shows over here. We get Jamie Oliver, Anthony Bonduain's No Reservation and the Zimmerman show but no Giada. I bought some asparagus at the market. delicious!

los angelista - I was obsessed with Trader Joe's popcorn and their blood orange soda.

ms. violetta - peanut butter! It's been a while.

gyspygirl - ha. I know what you mean. I love it so.

citygirl - I go back and forth between salt cravings and sugar. Sometimes I might have both going on at the same time. It's a sad situation.

glamah16 - my cheese intake has also increased since the move.

moi - there is nothing wrong with it at all!

jeeves - I like that dish as well.

Thanks for remembering. I just posted about it. Cannot believe a year has gone by already.

My top five obsessions were:

Beets- overkill with a beet/butter/rosemary dish has made me hate them
San Carlo puffs (or whatever the puffed cheesy corn curls are)- love licking my fingers after
Lupini- ate them on the bus like a slob, put them on hold til Easter
Scamorza- Charlotte and I ate this every day for lunch for a month
Perla Nera cheese

Right now, I am participating in my own version of Quaresima as I tend to over do it on my food obsessions and have to detox.

erin - I went through a pesto stage a few years back. It's soooooo good.

moscerina - I hear you. I had to detox from those darn Rustica San Carlo chips.

ieishah - I can understand that.

tracieb - seeing how my spring clothes are a little snug. I need to ease up on the obsessions.
