I'm back at G.'s. He went out of town and since I still have the keys to his place, he said I could come over to use the Internet.
Yesterday I took a break from work to run to the supermarcato and saw a film crew on my street. My street is very narrow, so there was no way to avoid the crew. There were all these photographers standing around. I wondered what/who were they shooting? I heard an American accent. I looked to my right and there was Dennis Hopper walking back to the video monitors. Now that is hella random.

You know what they say, it's a small world, isn't it? (And, no photos?)
super random! You should go make some chit-chat...and I agree with "homebody at heart" about the photos ;)
homebody and erin - sorry, it was such close quarters I felt like it would be rude to take a photo of him.
I wonder if it's that movie "When in Rome" they are shooting here that you saw? I have been hearing a lot about it on the gossip blogs. However, I didn't read that Dennis Hopper was in it.
Hmmmm, I wonder if it has to do with the James Bond movie they are filming over here. I remember reading a couple weeks back about one of the stuntmen falling off a cliff into a lake and getting seriously injured. Maybe this is a different movie though.
How exciting. A little of your old worl in your new world.
That's funny! You know my friend A lived in his pool house for a while. He's quite a nice guy, apparently, as is his wife. Go say hi! :).
Btw, I'm in LA and its FREEZING.
haha...that's cool. did you run into anyone you know personally? (I have no clue if you actually know DH so that's why I ask..)
Hah, that *is* random. And rather unique as experiences in Rome go, I would imagine ;)
Ok I just read that Gwyneth Paltrow is shooting a commercial for Tod's in Campo and it is directed by Dennis Hopper! That had to be what you saw. How cool!
Jessica - oh...that would explain all the paparazzi. Ms. Paltrow is everywhere these days. I walked past a newsstand and she is on the cover of American Vogue and she is in the blockbuster movie, Iron Man. I think When in Rome is wrapping up soon, then Angels and Demons comes next month.
giulia - I heard about that accident too. They had to shut down production. They were shooting in the up north in the Lake area.
glamah16 - I had flashbacks. :)
gibber - that's right. I have heard nothing but nice things about him.
claudia - no I don't know him or gwen. I know she loves Italy and spends a lot of time here.
bleeding espresso - It was so funny because they were a block away from my apt. and I kept hearing "action!" ...of course in Italian.
For some reason, my mother's building in NYC is a fave for location shots, and we have film crews around a lot. It's pretty surreal.
hehe...as well she should! :)
They are shooting a movie on the island of Capri as well! I don't know the movie name.
jen - it is surreal. At times people do get fed up if there is constant filming. It disrupts everything.
claudia - ha. She does have good taste.
paolo - that must be a nice place to go on location. If one has to work insane hours I'd rather be on Capri than a sound stage.
Ooooh Dennis Hopper! After seeing Blue Velvet he kind of freaks me out. Was he breathing into an oxygen mask?
linda - you are too funny! No he was not. ha
Noooo... What is it with you girl?
Dennis Hopper is a living doll!
For Mother's day, I visited Rome with my daughter and grand daughter, Krisha.
We rented an apartment at the Campo Dei Fiori. Dennis and Gweneth Paltrow filmed a scene right outside our bedroom window.
We didn't know what to do.. to leave..? or to stay..? Dennis asked us to stay, so we happily complied.
lol... our 15 minutes of fame :)
girl in the window,
Nanci
ps.. Yes, we did get pix of Dennis and Gweneth.. They are posted on myspace. (nancikeim/myspace.com)
wordtryst - sorry. :)
nanci - that is a great story! What a nice adventure to add to your Roman holiday. I'll check out the photos.
