Italia week: a little fashion from Gucci

After a little music, calico (soccer), film it's time for some fashion.

I believe Frida Giannini was recently hired by Valentino. She had a tough time at Gucci following in the footsteps of Tom Ford. She was always being compared to him. However, since she took over, ready-to-wear sales have gone up. I loved Tom's designs but how many "regular" women could wear his clothes? I think Frida was head of accessories under Tom and I am huge fan of their bags (which is why I avoid all Gucci stores.)

I love Pat McGrath's work. She is the top make-up artist in fashion. British via Jamaica she is also a make-up consultant for one of the big brands here.

One downside of living in such a warm climate is, I don't get to wear fall clothes too often. It's going to be 82 today. Also L.A. is very casual and these kind of structured clothes look strange here. Of course I don't miss February in New York City, when it's freezing, gray and the sun doesn't shine for weeks. Rome doesn't get as cold as New York but the seasons are more noticeable. Fall is my favorite season. I can't wait to wear sweaters, tights, gloves and boots.

What is your favorite season for clothes and why?

I agree with you - I tend to really look forward to the fall because I'm always ready for all the fun accessories to add to the outfits. I'm definitely putting them to use now b/c the temps dropped a lot this week. I wore a hat, gloves, scarf, boots, and a big coat today!

tracey K/Ohio: I like the Fall because I'm a sweater addict! There's no such thing as too many sweaters & the more colorful, the better for me. However, coats, hats, gloves, boots, etc., piss me off (LOL!) Yeah, they're cute & all, but having to put all that crap on everyday so you don't freeze your hiney off gets to be a pain. :-(

I'm always a fan of soft graceful fashion :)

FALL, I love fall since we can layer clothes so nicely. This post was fun, grazie!

I like spring best. Of course without a dismally cold winter spring is not as enjoyable as it should be, but I really like how the weather turns warmer until you don't need those scarves and hats and the brown landscapes turn green again.
When I was living in So. California though I hardly noticed any seasons at all.

prob winter cause I love jackets, love wearing fur (fake of course, who can afford/deal with the mental consequences of the real stuff) and bc no one criticizes me for being my insanely naturally pale skin color.

I definitely agree with you on fall clothes being my favorite. I love putting on the knitted hats, scarves, etc. And I also just hate sweating out the summer so it's always a relief to me to be able to bundle up in layers and "shed" as needed.

Pat McGrath, I have read about her tons of times in magazines, etc. Has she put out any books? I would love to have my makeup done by her.

My favorite clothes season, as in anything else, is fall.

I just love the feeling that a major transition in seasons is about to happen and I love the play in fabrics in fall clothes.

roam 2 rome - glad you enjoyed it.

j. doe - I agree. Living in L.A. I don't really notice the seasons any more.

model - I don't think I could live in a cold climate anymore. So. Cal has ruined me! ha

shelley - I'm not sure if she has put out any books. I would def. buy it if she did. She is fantastic.

jen - I agree.
