Flying coach on a transatlantic flight to or from Los Angeles, not pleasant.

When I fly to Rome next year, I hope I can use my miles to buy a Business class ticket. Today I sat on a plane for 12 hours ( after an 1 hour from Venice to Zurich) next to man who snored, loudly.  I was on the aisle seat and he kept getting up, leaning way over into my space, knocking my headset out of the socket so I would miss chunks of the movies I was trying to watch, etc.

I am back in L.A. There were fires in Malibu's Corral Canyon, which is one of the most beautiful areas in Los Angeles. Many homes burned down to the ground. I saw on CNN Europe the other day that the Santa Ana winds were around 90 mph. Residents had very little time to evacuate.

Welcome back. Sorry to hear about your awful flight experiences though. Flying is never fun.

Ugh! I got stuck next to someone like that on the way back from China. Nightmare!

Welcome back though. Weren't those fires horrible? I feel sorry for all the people who lost their homes with almost no warning.

Mmm, yes! That's why when I fly to Italy I spend the entire trip on the back chatting away with other passengers and air stewardesses.

You'd be surprised what a nice fun atmosphere can be back there! :)

tracey k/Ohio: Welcome back; glad to see you arrived safely in spite of all the other 'stuff.' Great pictures of the colorful homes;I always admired them, but wondered who in the hell would actually do that to their house! (LOL!)Now I know why, so it's all good. Again, welcome back :0)

j. doe - the New York Times just did a story on the whole coach experience.

Liz - from China? That is a loooong flight. This fire season has been awful. I don't know if I would rebuild in a place where you have fire season and little rain.

roam 2 rome - which airline do you fly? The last few times I have flown, it seems the seat belt signs were on for a very long time.

tracey k. - Yes the bright colors work in Burano. Elsewhere not sure how neighbors would feel about a loud, hot pink house. I don't think the argument that it would be easier to find your house would fly. ha.
