For all the haters talking about diving, let give some credit to the outstanding defense. Italy allowed only 2 goals against them the entire tournament. One, they scored against themselves and the other was off a penalty kick.
For the love of god, can someone please tell ABC/ESPN to get rid of O'Brien and Balboa for 2010? They are calling soccer matches like baseball games. Their stupid commentary sucks.
Sad that the Cup is over.

I watched the game this afternoon and I thought of you. Was a bit nerve wracking, but truly a great game................sad that it's over too!!
corinna
yes Tina you are correct. I don't understand why everyone underestimated this team. They have won 4 world cups for a reason.
re: fabio, have you seen the Dolce & Gabbana ads? oh mio dio!!
Hey I have been reading your blog from Tracie's blog and enjoy your writing. She posted pictures today of the celebration! This is the first time I have written and will continue reading. Thanks

thanks anon. I checked out Tracie B's photos.
Hi! Found a link to your blog on another I read, and I just came by this morning to have a look. Very enjoyable! And it's really nice to read the blog of an American woman with a very different physical location and career than my own!
I especially enjoyed reading that you are a fan of what people here call "football"! Good for you! I worked for a French oil company in Houston before moving over here, so needless to say it was very convenient to watch a lot of soccer...especially during big events like Champions League, World Cup, etc.
Also, it's interesting to read your comments about the US commentators. I would have loved to have the comparison. Of course, here the BBC and ITV commentators were terrific -- although perhaps a little hard on the US players (even though they deserved some degree of negativity, of course...).
Anyway, HELLO from Oxfordshire! Just wanted you know that I enjoy your blog!

Thanks janet for checking my little blog. Yes people here are still talking about the terrible commentators. I pray O'Brien is not back in 2010. Not sure if it's still up but the NY Times had a great world cup soccer blog.
my ears are still ringing from the street bombs...
