Christmas Eve, St. Peter's Square, Rome Italy

Last night Erica, The Professor, Baby X and I went to St. Peter's Square after enjoying a tradition Christmas Eve dinner. It was the first time I've been to St. Peter's on Christmas Eve.

The Vatican unveils their life-size manger on Christmas Eve.

It was raining and I'm not Catholic but I was moved by the entire experience.

Merry Christmas/Buon Natale a tutti!

Yesterday was my first Christmas in Italy. I'm down in Salerno right now. It's quite mindblowing to see how Italians celebrate the holiday, I must say.

I've got a 7 kg turkey roasting in the oven as I type this and a jar of port cranberry sauce I boiled and canned in LA before coming. I'm hoping to share some traditions with my in-laws that I have back in the States. :)

We'll be in Rome on Befana Day for the match at the Olimpico. Are you available for lunch before? Would still like to meet in person if you have the time.

Reminds me of the christmas tree behind the white house in Washington DC. This is obviously bigger. Happy holidays!

Glad that you got to the Vatican at such a special time of the year. We were in Sicily for most of Holy week and Palm Sunday years ago and loved it.

Hope you had a good Christmas and a verry Happy New Year to you!

Ciao tutti...I hope you're enjoying the holiday week.

Stellino - you can shoot me a message via my Flickr page. I have two deadlines but let me know how long you're in Rome.

I was there that night! But I missed the part where baby Jesus appeared in the cradle, I was watching the monitors! Befana was more fun anyway :)
