Back on track, Angels and Demons by Dan Brown

I am back on schedule, waking up at 5:00 a.m., going to the gym and then writing for two hours before work. I extended my workout to forty minutes. I was started to look like the Michelin Man so I had to cut into my writing time a little bit.

I am enjoying this latest re-write. One of the notes I received said the bones of the novel are there, but I needed to add some meat. Taking the time to sit and re-reading it over the holiday after taking a break really helped. I was able to read the book with semi-fresh eyes.

Speaking of novels I read ANGELS AND DEMONS by Dan Brown. My sister let me borrow her copy. It's a very quick read and not grounded in reality. There is no way you can get across town the Historic Center of Rome within minutes. Akiva Goldsmith is getting paid four million dollars to adapt the screenplay. On Hollywood-elsewhere.com one poster said that is a lot of money for Zeroxing a book.

We'll see if they can make an entertaining movie out of this book. There is even more exposition in ANGELS than in DAVINCI CODE, which was the most boring movie I attempted to watch in a long time. They are going to have to spend a lot of money on sets, since they will not be able to shoot anywhere near the Vatican. Unless the movie changes drastically from the book, I imagine the Catholic Church will be salty about this movie. I'm very curious to see who they will cast. Perhaps Giovanna Mezzogiorno, Alessi Boni among others, will be joining Tom Hanks. ANGELS will probably be just as critic proof as the first one and make a zillion dollars worldwide.

Hmm, i dunno. Angels and Demons, while very popular, I'm not sure it has the super strong following that Da Vinci had. It will be interesting to see.

I'm glad you're back into the habit. It took me until yesterday to not fall asleep at 8 and wake up super early. I'm back to my normal time, though it was REALLY hard for me to wake up. My house is cold. I'm not used to this weather. BOO.

I'm very pleased with myself for at least sticking to my healthier eating for one week :) Next week, gym.

I think Angels and Demons was a good book. I also liked the DaVinci code (book). Did not see the movie. Too many good books are turned into terrible movies.

I read Angels and Demons a while ago. If you're looking for a fast-paced thriller, it works for me. Like you said, you need to ignore some factual inaccuracies--artistic license I suppose. I probably wouldn't feel comfortable changing basic facts just for plot devices, but let's hope we both cross that bridge (with some regularity) in the near future :)

I read it when some of the university students I used to work with gave it to me, and I have to say I enjoyed it even though not necessarily 100% realistic it was fun. I didn't enjoy the Da Vinci Code as much.
The book has spawned a million gimmicks here in Rome, among them many "Angels and Demons" tours. All I know is I wanna be an extra when they come over to make the movie!!

This is going to be a really big hollywood movie. I hope they do hire a large percentage of local cast and crew. I do not want to see Cameron Diaz doing an Italian accent.

Akiva Goldsman. I cna't wait to see Langdon leap out of the helicopter at night with a tarp and land in the Tiber. You work in film?
