Cenci, Frappe, Chiacchiere...the yummy goodness is back!

I had no idea it was the beginning of the Carnival season until I walked into my local Forno/bakery and saw Frappe. These lightly fried treats are so addictive. They are made daily and available at bakeries only during this time of year.

They are called different names in Italy. In Rome it's Frappe.

I'm going to try very hard to limit my intake to only once or twice a week. Hard to do when they are all up in your face.

We just started eating these this past weekend. Addictive is right! However I noticed the ones we had are baked, al forno. So maybe they are not as bad as the fried ones? I hope so!

I love cenci! So glad they don't sell them here because I'm trying to lose weight.

They sure are delicious esp. when the nonna of The Italian makes them. Why does food made by grandmothers always taste better!?

Ok, I saw you via Diana's blog and when I read your short story I had to comment. The prospect of getting a beat down if I mention a certain book or certain place is too tantalizing.

I hope to enjoy your romantic stories ob being a broke ass writer in Rome. One tip: don't spend all your dough on the fried kind. Wink wink.

TCC - Ha. Thanks for visiting. I adore Diana and her blog.

I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for when the film version of EAT, PRAY, LOVE comes out.
