The clip below is how I felt during yesterday's lesson. I haven't been on the Autostrada yet but Rome traffic is no joke.
I love this movie.
Have a great weekend.

An American In Rome

awww. one of my first forays into thinking new media can bring new people into culture. It was because of this film that I started like Jane Austen.
Supposedly Rome traffic is slightly worse but Florence traffic is no joke either. Honestly the first few weeks I drove her I was shaking like a leaf but now I don't even think about it anymore...however we leave Italy in 8 weeks and I have to leave all the bad habits here that you need just to get around on these roads (ie see a space, go for it! double parking is ok if it means you can get a cappucino, parking on a zebra pedestrian crossing is ok too). When you get your car be careful of the street cleaning days...was an expensive 160 euro lesson learnt by us not long ago.
Classic! (I was just graduating high school when this came out, too).
BEST MOVER EVAR. I could quote so many lines from it. I love this scene. "After this, D's virginity went from technical to non-exsistent". Gufaw.
"Cher, get in here"
"Yes Daddy?"
"What do you have on"
"A dress"
"Says who!"
"Calvin Klein"
LOVE that movie! MISSED your blog! I've been on a long, necessary hiatus. Hope your spring is going well.
skywalker - Ten Things I Hate About You was also a sharp update of a classic.
monika - Florence is so crowded and has narrow streets. I'm not surprised to hear driving there is no joke either. Your story give me hope. I look forward to the day when I don't over think shifting gears.
fb - I will not say how old I was when this came out. ha
gibber - "you're a virgin who can't drive" "that was way harsh Ty".
jen - welcome back!
After driving in the laidback southwest of the US I feel like that everytime I get on the NJ roads and encounter New Jersey drivers (second worst drivers in the US). Of course they are better than Florence drivers hands down (and probably Roman ones as well)
that movie is a classic ... funny .
I hope your driving experience was better than that !
j. doe - ahhh NJ drivers. You gotta love them. I learned to drive there so I find L.A. drivers more frustrating (god help you when it rains in L.A. people lose their minds).
david - barely. ha
