I am very salty with Italia's Next Top Model.

How could they send Martina home?!

I am not a fan of Michela's...she'll probably win. She seems very immature. Didn't she get into some beef with one of the other girls earlier? Given I only understand 50% of what is being said, I don't know what they were arguing about.

Of the three remaining contestants, Elena is my favorite. I also liked Diletta and Giorgia. The latter looked like Carla Bruni.

The Italian version is not as over the top as the American original and the contestants here look like they could actually become models. The American version is more about entertainment I think. And it is entertaining. Tyra is a trip and Miss J. cracks me up. Apparently the Italian version is one of the toughest spin-offs.

You don't see anything about the Italian host. The show is not about her or any of the judges.

Can someone (if I'm not the only prerson watching this show) tell what is up with the judge, Giusy Ferrè, who wears sunglasses inside...all the time? I know she is a fashion journalist but must she wear them 24/7? I find it distracting unless she is blind, then I understand.

Wait I just realized I made no darn sense. How can she be blind? She has to see the photos and models. Doh.

I wondered about the sunglass thing too. Maybe she's hiding sags and bags and wrinkles (oh my). I stopped watching the show a while ago so I'm a little out of the loop.

This just made me think about how different these spin-off shows must be to sell, culturally, in each different country.

I'm really looking forward to some show that's starting here in January. I'm sure it's Nigel Lithgow's dream show (I know... spelled his name wrong... too early), because he's producing and it's like "So You Think You Can Dance" but it's an international competition of professional companies. I wonder how it's going to sell in the States.

I'm completely psyched to see it, though!

My week is so messed up, I clicked over here looking forward to Flashback Friday . . . of course it's only TUESDAY!!!!! I guess that's what happens when you work like dogs all weekend and finally get a moment of peace on Tuesday. Ack.

Italy's top model sounds hilarious, I wonder if they have it here in France (not Italy's top model but France's, that is. Unclear antecedents!!).

Happy Tuesday

Jen, I think you're talking about 'Superstars of Dance' which is due to premiere on NBC in the first week of January. I'm sorry to admit I know this, but Nigel Lythgoe is one of the producers. (And the one-time "Lord of the Dance" is a co-host! Hee!)

I'm excited because for once an American show that claims to feature the best (fill in the blank) in the world isn't defining the world as Los Angeles, Boston, Miami, and maybe Toronto for good measure. Looks like the show will actually feature dancers from all over the, you know, world!

nyc/caribbean, I'm trying to imagine a 'Top Model' show that focuses on models and not the host or judges. Could such a thing exist? What's Italian for "badunkadunk", "fierce", and "smile with your eyes"?

joanne - hmmm, I don't know. Maybe it's just her "thing"?

jen - that sounds very interesting and should be a hit.

kimb - I think they do have one in France. Ha. I can't wait until Friday either.

yvonne - it's like how we have the World Series but it's only between teams in the U.S. or maybe Canada If the Blue Jay or Expos get in.

One of the judges, Michael Giannini, is Italian American but his Italian is very good. I only realized he was American when he busted out with. "Work it ladies" in English. Sometimes he does say "be fierce". ha
