Amanda Knox takes the stand.

I don't know what to think about this case.

The slant of the majority of the American press is, "poor innocent Amanda is being railroaded by overzealous prosecutor."

The majority of the British press is the exact opposite, "Amanda is a lying psychopath who doesn't seem upset about her brutally murdered roommate."

I read Meredith's injuries were caused by more than one person. But Amanda's lawyers and PR team (yes her parents hired one), say the DNA/evidence was tainted.

Her ex boyfriend said they weren't together. Why wouldn't their alibis be the same?

I hope the jury focuses on the facts and finds justice for Meredith. I don't envy them.

I don't know what to think about it...I have to say I saw a few minutes of her and I wasn't impressed at all.

Plus, her interpreter at the beginning interrupted her every 3 seconds and it was really annoying.

Boh. I'm glad I'm not on the jury.

I've been following the case from the states and I can't stand how they portray Amanda as this poor and innocent girl. I really did think the prosecution was going to prove their case or 'break' Meredith in some sense, but I didn't see that...I don't know...it's definitely just so tragic what happened to Meredith.

I hate how the press slants the story, too. Amanda sounded guilty to me, so maybe I'm secretly a Brit?

Seriously though, I feel horrible for Meredith's family. It's hard to imagine myself in their shoes.

sara - I saw party of her testimony. Wasn't moved. Not sure why.

camillo - grazie.

anon - I feel with so much of the press focusing on "foxy noxy", they're losing sight of the fact that a woman was brutally murdered in her own home.

losangelista - I can't imagine what this must be like for Meredith's parents. I'm curious to see what Amanda's ex-boyfriend will say.

I have tried to follow this story in US,British and Italian press but all I can say is "I'm so confused!" I don't know what happened but it is true that the US press is making Amanda seem like an innocent victim of inept Italian procedures. The real victim though is Meredith.

Its an interesting reversal of the "Natalie Holloway" dilemma. Instead of an American being a missing victim its an American being a victimized villian.

I don't know - the case reeks of foull play and things just don't add up. But what this American student doesn't realize is that if you break a law in another country, you play by their rules. Plain and Simple.

Let's consider for a minute that the prosecutor in the case is under indictment for crimes himself...

Regardless of Knox's innocence or guilt, I think this whole "satanic sex game" story is waaaaaaaaay overblown.

I don't envy the jury either.

j. doe - I agree.

skywalker - I know. I hope college exchange programs explain this to students.

tina - Why wasn't this prosecutor replaced? I don't know about the satanic sex games either. Bizarre angle to push.

I don't have an opinion either way, I have been deliberately avoiding all the news on this issue. I feel for her parents, I really do but then again my heart breaks for Meredith's parents.
