Snapshot Rome - Surprised by some sheep

I was jogging on the road that leads to the entrance of the Catacombe di San Callisto off Via Appia Antica. Usually, I'm on the look out for tour buses and bicyclists. Suddenly, a few sheep zipped across the road.

The lambs are too cute for word. It's hard to believe a flock this size is so close to the Historic Center.

I remember seeing some off the Via Appia Antica too! Such a charming sight in the city.

Awww....i remember visiting my aunt back in 91...every day the sheep came across the road to their grazing field....stopped all traffic...it was pretty funny but I imagine for the drivers it was a pain! haaha.

They are cheap weed control and free fertilizer! Here we have goats doing the same thing, although, with all of the homeless, the goats have to have some sort of security, or, they turn up missing...

paola - exactly!

gibber - And this flock is huge.

FS - I really love the Appia Antica. I should go with a tour guide one day to learn more about it's history.

claudia - tour buses were trying to avoid the sheep. The poor herder.

HaH - what?! People are stealing sheep? In 2011?
