What the what?! New flavors from San Carlo chips.

I was walking along near the Pantheon minding my own business. Out of the corner of my eye I saw this packaging in a cafe.

What the heck is this? Why, why, why San Carlo must you tempt me so?

Just when I've finally broken my San Carlo Rustic chips obsession, here comes these amazing flavors.

I wonder if these chips are for their foreign market? Do they have one? The packaging is in English and Italian and the flavors Cheddar & Onion, Tomato Ketchup, etc. are not traditionally Italian.

So far I've tried the Cheddar & Onion and it is fantastic!! I never heard of tomato flavored chips until I went to Toronto where that flavor is very popular. There's also a chicken flavor (Roasted Chicken) but I walked past that one as it kind of freaked me out. I have to try the Sea Salt.

At the bottom of the bag it says sapori di Scozia (flavors of Scotland). Hmm very interesting. So far the bags are small (50 grams) but if they bust out with the 180 grams bag I will be in trouble. Once in a while in the States I ate Doritos. I never bought bags of potato chips at the supermarket. Not sure why I love them so much here.

Well, after the comments from Madame Doctor (see yesterday's post) I know I have to keep this love in check. ha

All I can do is bust out the LOLs on this post. When I found the Kettle Chips Sea Salt and Cracked Black Pepper it was a problem for me... :)

I was going to say the same thing as Simone....after yesterday's post this one cracked me up. It reminds me of when I went to a gym and the Food Network was on TV.

I can't remember if I said this last time you posted about San Carlo chips, but I am convinced chips are better in Europe. I grew up in Switzerland and LOVED LOVED LOVED the chips there (paprika flavor, herbes de provence flavor, black pepper flavor) and then I came to the U.S. for college and had like zero interest in the potato chips. And it's now been 15 years that I am living in teh U.S. and I never had a potato chips phase at all.

Corn chips, that's another story :)

LOL! Temptation! Potato chips here are in the US are just overly greasy and artificial tasting. I can roll with the occasional bag of Popchips but that's about it!

Oh dear, I cannot believe they have found themselves across the sea!! The shelves in the UK are filled with weird named crisps!!

I KNOW!! Isn't it great? Have you seen the Roast Chicken/Diavola flavour? I tell ya, those folks at San Carlo are EVIL! That said, there's nothing like the flavoured chips you can get in Canada. Sigh!

Hooray for this! I always miss cheese and onion crisps when I'm in Italy.

we sell those weird flavored English crisps at our bookstore (?!). They certainly have a very wide range of very peculiar flavors . . .

i myself can live without potato chips, but a la City Girl, I am a goner for tortilla chips.

Bought a bag of chips today and was out of control eating almost the whole bag on the drive home. It was like being possessed as I just could not stop! Thought of this blog post :)

I am very late in congratulating you on your script being sold. I am thrilled for you!

sara - kettle chips...yum

simone - a london friend said I must try the chicken flavored chips

michelle - I bet they will be there soon.

j.doe - my timing was a little off, ha. regarding: Food Network on at the gym. I would try not to watch that monitor but I would always get sucked in.

city girl - It's bizarre. I eat chips here like they're going out of style here. For the first time in my life, salty is trumping sweet.

los angelista - that could be it. I don't like how "heavy" many chips are in the States. The San Carlo ones seem lighter and fresher (or that is what I would like to think. ha)

anne - I noticed that when I was in London a few years ago.

milanese - I saw those. I'm going to try them.

rob - yes it's cause for celebration...and they're good!

kimb - San Carlo makes tortilla chips as well. sigh.
