Tears, fashion and congrats to my sister.

Good Luck Mr. President.

During the hours that Inauguration was on, I got chocked up several times. I cannot believe how many people were on the mall yesterday. Amazing

When President Obama got out of the limo and started to walk down the street, I became very nervous and kept saying get back in the car.

I had to switch from CNN International to the Italian channel SKY because some of the commentary was getting on my nerves.

There is a lot of work to do but on a completely shallow note, everyone looked fantastic. I loved Michelle Isabel Toledo swearing-in outfit. That color looks great on her. Laura Bush's coat was very pretty.

How cute are the "wee Michelles" in J. Crewcuts?

Congrats to my sister who starts working in the West Wing as a senior advisor next week. I hope she will still take her older sister's calls.

Me too! I was watching on BBC and getting choked up at times. Watching the Obamas walking on the street made me so nervous. I couldn't bear to see anything happen to them. And I agree, everone looked really great in their outfits. I really wish them all the best.

I agree! It was a wonderful ceremony and I LOVED the outfits. it is incredible how everyone had the same feeling of happiness and concern at the same time, all over the world.
Big congrats to your sister. I am sure it will be a wonderful experience for her. Did you get my card??

leng - I'm glad to see I wasn't the only who got nervous. I know security was extra-tight but still.

petulia - I just got your card. Very classy. Safe travels and see you next month.

The pink and orange was my favorite outfit of the day.

Congratulations gibber, wow!

Loved the ceremony. I was there, freezing, mocking and learing at my horrendous co-patriots. I will say you didn't mention the booing and yes I was there, there was booing for GWB.

If you sis does take your calls...can she get a WH pin?

i got teary a time or two. It was nice to see a bit of levity now and then during the ceremony (ie. when John Roberts screwed up.ha) didn't you wonder what was going thru bush's mind during the speech? hehe

I thought the girls and michelle looks great. i was a bit startled @ george sr - I didn't realize he hobbled so, but thought the carters looked fantastic.

I am not one of those who looks to Obama as a "savior" or someone who is perfect. but I do like him and his mannerisms. i think he is a thinker who brings back some gentility to the presidency. he is like a breath of fresh air and its nice to see people excited again. plus garnering respect again from the international community will be a nice change.

congrats to your sister - that is cool!

I too got chocked up and could not stop crying. I also got nervous when they got out of the car. The sea of humanity that showed up in the cold, cold DC weather from all over the country to wish our new President well was amazing and very well behaved. The DC police reported that there was order and not one arrest. And yes, the fashion on Michelle and the little ones was amazing. God Bless our new First Family.

one question: who is your sister??
Obama's wife??

Ditto the choking up, and the anxiety as he walked. I could imagine the head of security telling him: Okay, okay, that's enough now, get back in the car!

Huge congrats to your sis.

j. doe - she claims she will. hmmm

gibber - phew. thank god. ha

jess - can you believe it? The gibber is a very important. You know my parents are going to tell everyone in SXM.

skywalker - I didn't hear the booing on CNN but I heard there was quite a bit. Folks were like "get the heck out!" That is so exiting you were there. I've visited the WH before once during Bush #1 term with my family and another time during Clinton's term to see some friends. Maybe she can hook me up with some stationary. haha

texas - I was surprised to see Bush sr. hobbling as well. I did wonder what was going on in Bush jr.'s mind during the whole 8 years. :) I agree our new President is a breathe of fresh air.

gyspygirl - I know, all those people, over 1 million from all over the country. Just amazing. So many young people too.

paolo - you are too funny. The only thing my sister's husband has in common with Obama is that they are both biracial.

wordtyrst - seriously...I could not wait for them to get back in the limo.

I got up and turned on CNN as I made breakfast only to be disgusted with what they were saying as well.

Congratulations to your sister!

I can't stop smiling; now I don't have to tell people across the pond that I'm Canadian, LOL!

Congrats to your sister, indeed! I loved both of Michelle's outfits, but the wee Michelles were, indeed, the cutest. They both looked stunning and oh-so-happy for their Daddy!

What a DAY!!!

I'm still carrying the glow.

Such an exciting day yesterday, as I sat here in Rome watching it I was just thinking about how cool it was that people all over the world were doing the exact same thing. I loved Michelle's outfit and all I have to say is, this is one good looking presidential family! How amazing for your sister, by the way, you guys must be so proud.

I have been so emotional, crying yet again this morning when seeing a photos in the newspaper. I loved the girls' outfits and Michelle's also. I also loved when they all flashed the shaka sign to President Obama's high school marching band (Punahou).

I was another very nervous person when they got out of the car. I kept looking at the people in those tall buildings thinking...what are the Secret Service people thinking!

How exciting for your sister! Congratulations!!

It was all too fabulous for words. It is just now really sinking in for me.

I agree, Laura Bush looked beautiful. So did Dr. Biden.

But the truth is, with the Obamas as First Family, we not only have competence, retrospect and intellect in the White House, we have style. Not style as dictated and spoon fed to us by the Milano Runway, but real style, from creative, down to earth, real people. Michele Obama is a knock out. What a gorgeous couple they are. Style and taste meet Pennsylvania Avenue.

Ragazza, congratulations to your little sis. What a great chance for her. Does it get any better than that, really?

It is going to be your year too. :)

moi - I know. I wanted them to stop talking for one minute.

winegrrl - That is funny.

jen - I still don't quite believe it!!

eryn - I don't know what her day to day will be but the job is similar to what she did at the DNC and other positions...communications/press.

jessica - I am loving this new energy. I know there are tough times ahead but I like how he was working from day 1. He is surrounded by a group of very smart people. And yes they are a very attractive family.

girasoli - I know it's a custom to walk part of the way but I was still freaking out. I wonder what must be going through Michelle's mind. When she met Barack he was still in law school and wasn't thinking about being a politician, now he's the President of the United States of America.

diana - Grazie. The new social secretary Desiree Rogers is a knock out too. I have a feel the State dinners will once again be a classy affair with great mix of people.

I know the Obamas are super smart, Ivy league and all that but they still seem accessible. Kerry seemed out of touch and Bush went to the opposite extreme downplaying his wealthy background and Ivy league education. It will be refreshing not to turn off the TV when the President is speaking. I really couldn't take Bush weird syntax.

I was so with you, wishing they'd get back in the cars. So nervous! I stuck to CSPAN because I didn't want to hear any of the commentary. I just wanted to experience it, talking-head free!

How fortunate your sister is to be a part of this administration. You must be so proud! :)

I am still sooo buzzed!

What kind of work will do your sister in the administration?

I'm going to belatedly jump on the congrats train for gibber! It's been great getting to "know" her a bit via her witty comments on your posts. I know you are *bursting* with sisterly pride.

nyc/caribbean ragazza said...

paolo - grazie.

yvonne - I'm very excited for her. Her life is about to become even more hectic so not sure how much she will be posting in the future. ha

Super cool about your sister. Your folks raised some pretty accomplished kids!!! Screenwriters, high-level political communicators, who knows what all else?!

kim b - you are so sweet. I'm the loser kid in the family though. Hopefully 2009 will be my year. :)
