I can't believe this "advice book" has been translated into Italian.

There is a lot of buzz about the author of the book "How To Talk To Girls." He's only 9 years old. The 46 paged "book" has become a hit and a Hollywood studio has already bought the rights. Alec Greven has been on Leno and many other shows. Some think it's cute, others wonder if his parents actually wrote the book.

I do think it's possible that a young child wrote this book. However, I find it creepy that adults would want to take romance advice from a 9 year old CHILD. What is wrong with the world?

I was walking down a major street in Rome and saw this in a bookstore around Valentine's Day.

My 9 year old only wants to talk about soccer, Pokemon (Dragonball, Yugi Oh, etc), his Nintendo DS and Wii and when I'll be making the next batch of chocolate chip cookies.
Having said that, he has already *broken up and reconciled* with the same little girl 5 times since he was 3 (friends of the family, they've been in the same class since daycare).
It's officially over now, she told him so.

I've been in many situations where I wished that the men involved took advice from anybody on how to talk to women, be they 9, 10, 25 or 50 years old. Some people just need all the help they can get so I'm not surprised that they translate the book into many languages.

I saw the little boy in some interview. He actually isn't interested in girls. (or boys... I mean, he's like Joanne's 9-year-old boy and the way mine was at that age, too - yu-gi-oh! nintendo, cookies - sounds about right). I think he's been massively exploited.

And yeah, like Italian men need that kind of help from an American 9-year-old - make me laugh!

OK, I think that one of the more troubling problems with the male of the species is that they take advice on how to talk to girls from each other. And they're all pretty much 9-year-olds in that regard anyway.

So that book from the 9 year old boy?

Redundant.

Hey there,

This is soooo ironic...

Sounds like a publisher's marketing tactic...or a parent who wrote the book and the child's name is on it...

At least their hunch was correct... the fact that audiences thought a little boy wrote it generated a tremendous amount of buzz...

blackwomen - yes the buzz on the book is very strong. I hope Alec put his money into a trust fund.

I agree with all you ladies, and yes the book must be a scam. It smelled fishy the minute I leafed through it in Feltrinelli last week. As far as Italian men go, 9 or 40, it's all the same. They're all children, and their advice may be candid, but I wouldn't trust it beyond Gormiti and bubble gum. Exploiting a kid like that, though is worse, it's diabolical!
Ragazza, you and I have many things in common, we should hook up in Campo over a tall drink and chat.
Ciao!
