When I first started doing Flashback Fridays someone reminded me not to forgot MC Hammer. Of course how could I forget this song? It was a monster hit in 1990. Song was corny as hell but thank to the great Rick James sample it was catchy.
Once Gangsta Rap became popular the days of fun hip-hop like Will Smith, MC Hammer, Sir Mix A Lot etc. were over. Mc Hammer even tried to go "hard". It didn't work.
MC Hammer went from earning millions to being broke. There was a movie on VH1 about his rise and fall. Things seem to be going better him these days.
Have a great weekend.

Hammer time!
I was more a fan of 2 Legit to Quit. I think I was 8 or 10 when that song got really big.
My my my my music hits me...so hard....doesn't get catchier than this. Thanks for putting *this*in my head for the day ;)
Thank god you posted this because I had Sarah Palin's flute performance in my head all morning. Must remember to get a pair of those harem pants for my toddler. They'd hide diapers so well!
Two things:
1. Whenever it's time for one of us to take a shower, my bf and go, "STOP! SHOWERTIME!"
2. It's MC Hammer, not Mc Hammer, which I believe was a fast food meal a few years back. LOL!! (sorry, couldn't resist)
lilacspecs - ha... I totally remember that song.
michelle - you're welcome.
milanese - I saw that clip. WTF? She was sharp the whole time.
missexpatria - thank you so much. I have made the changes. :)
Palin wasn't sharp, she was flat :)
I loved MC hammer! Corniness and all. And sis, I actually liked his stupid "pumps and a bump" "hardcore" song if only because the words were stupid and the video...withis bathing suit....please hammer, don't hurt me! Hahaha
gibber - You're right. See this is what years of not playing music does to you.
re: that bathing suit...young lady, get your mind out of the gutter. I hope your husband does not read this post. :)
Corny, but fab, fab, fab.
This is one song that ALWAYS makes me smile. I think because it's so corny. But catchy, too.
We can all learn a lesson from lifes highs and lows from MC. I remeber I actually had a pair of those harem style pants he wore.
Well, we do have cravings for a reason. You wanted potato chips. What's in potato chips? Basically, potato and oil. So instead of chips, try steaming some potatoes and having them with butter or nuts, all very good sources of essential fatty acids. If you must have them, then do so. You can get away with eating "bad" food as long as you stop when you're satisfied, not full.
jen - it's so catchy I had the song in my head all day yesterday.
glamah16 - no comment on those pants. :)
jstele - yes moderation is the key. I'm working on getting thing back under control. ha
I'm kind of immune to 'Can't Touch This', but if Hammer's 'Turn This Mutha Out' comes on, watch out y'all! ;->
Oh man, those pants he's wearing! AAAH!
Let me tell ya, the girls down here in Argentina are starting to wear THOSE pants (which I call s***-catcher pants) to dance TANGO these days. They wear them with nice pretty stiletto heels. I can't handle it. It's horrible.
Now on MC Hammer they're cool. :-) But only on him.
Thanks for the flashback!
yvonne - That song was catchy as well. ha
tina - I am not feeling that look, heels with those pants?
