I was talking to my parents the other day. We can't believe Tim Russert is dead.
He just got back from a family trip to Italy to celebrate his son's graduation from college.
Even after I stopped working in the political world I watched MTP every Sunday. Russert was one of the best political journalists out there. At least he died doing something he loved.
The son of a garbage man from Buffalo, Russert was a hard core Bills fan and spoke often about his Irish Catholic upbringing. He was very close to his family. From what I heard he had a great sense of humor and was really looking forward to covering this election.
Here is the NYTs obit.
Rest in Peace Mr. Russert.

I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news. I love MTP and liked him. Sunday will not be the same now. I feel so sad for his family =(
i am so sad about this too. he just had zero pretension about him and was such a kind man. no one has a bad word to say about the guy. plus he loved family and giving back. he will be missed.
I don't normally watch MTP but I saw it today for their tribute. No one had a bad word to say about him. He was a good moderator, a loving son, husband, father, colleague and friend. Even though he died young (way too young, I think), he was able to achieve so much, and he absolutely loved what he did. He seemed like a good person who had an incredible impact on people. Goodbye Mr. Russert, may you rest in peace.
I can't even put into words how I feel. And the creepy thing was I had just emailed his exec producer some info for sunday's show and two minutes later we heard the news. I've cried a lot this weekend. His death hits close to home, coming almost five years after dh's mom died, in the same manner. *sigh* the good always die young.
I just read the news. It seems to be so much tragedy lately.
Ciao tutti. I still don't believe he's gone.
That is really shocking.
I'm still in shock over this. MTP is my mother's firm tradition every. single. Sunday. I know this is going to be a huge blow both to her and to Russert's loyal viewers, his family and all those who admired him.
As you said, at least he died doing what he loved.
