You live overseas. Do they think you were making things up? Any tourist here for more than an hour can see there is a huge difference in size.

I think all this carb misinformation is a conspiracy between the multi-billion dollar fast food/processed food industry and the multi-billion dollar diet industry.

Also, we Americans like quick results/fixes. A diet is not the same as changing eating habits. The food industry doesn't make it easy with the high price of veggies/fruit and "food deserts" in many neighborhoods.nyc/caribbean ragazzahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09370358466131415888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18861479.post-69253099016782843502010-11-17T16:59:16.051+01:002010-11-17T16:59:16.051+01:00I guest posted at a blog where most of the women d...I guest posted at a blog where most of the women don't travel so much or live abroad, and was attacked because I challenged the idea that women in Europe tend to be thinner because they eat fewer processed foods, NOT because they replace meals with cigarettes. This was like, a month ago. The "carbs are the devil" thing seems strange to us, but many Americans still believe that it isn't possible to eat pasta or croissants every day and still maintain a respectable weight. So yeah...ieishahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13351048799735156173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18861479.post-33913518673778290342010-11-17T10:56:15.216+01:002010-11-17T10:56:15.216+01:00Sonia - Grazie Sonia! And yes, I do love eating pasta, gelato, pizza etc. etc. while still losing weight.

Tracie P - I agree walking a lot is a big part of it. No, carbs are still seen as evil among many dieters. I think diets don't work in the long term.

J. Doe - exactly. The solution for weight loss is simply to eat less food - not to eat only things without carbs or doing any other strange food combos. Everything here in the US is supersized. Plates are huge. It takes a big effort to eat less (at least for me and I haven't much success), but in Italy with smaller portion sizes eating less is easier .J.Doenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18861479.post-24272360494867554882010-11-16T15:19:18.214+01:002010-11-16T15:19:18.214+01:00people asked me that all of the time. what do you...people asked me that all of the time. what do you say? the food in general is more wholesome and we don't but our big rears in cars all of the time.

isn't the carbs-are-evil attitude a bit passe' yet?Tracie P.https://www.blogger.com/profile/16220560234729129259noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18861479.post-22642216570461167672010-11-16T12:01:47.751+01:002010-11-16T12:01:47.751+01:00don't you love eating pasta and losing weight?...don't you love eating pasta and losing weight?!?! i like to tell people that eating a gelato everyday also helps with weight loss... well for me anyway!

ps... as of today, iTunes now has 'Jumping The Broom' on it's list of Movie Trailers!!
